Good Evil (FRIGGEN KORN)

So, last evening I, Samantha J. went to the Aragon Ballroom to see Korn headline Breaking Benjamin, Skindred, and Instruction.
It's weird, because with everything that has happened since it seems kind of almost like I never even really went. (haha, that sentence was so friggen confusing) I feel kind of like last night was a void in my existence. Even if the concert was brilliant.
I arrived just in time to see Instruction leave the state(thankfully). Skindred were next and they kicked major ass. They're this Welsh reggae metal band who were really hard to understand, but had great stage presence and music. I really really liked their set.
David Draiman(en?) from Disturbed was up in the balcony again, it reminded me of when I went to see Godsmack. He's a true fan, and that's pretty cool to see. There are few 'rock' shows that I've been to in Chicago, that he hasn't been at. I guess later the rest of Disturbed was up there, but I didn't get to see them. Still though, awesome.
The show was sold out and the floor was quickly filling up. I moved way up for Breaking Benjamin because I wanted to make sure I could work my way even closer for Korn. Breaking Benjamin were absolutely amazing, I really enjoyed their set. The singer looks like he just, is fit to be on stage, like that's the only place in the universe he belongs. That was really neat to see. Jamming out to 'So Cold' and 'Polyamorous'(spelling on that one) was really fun. Now that I've seen how good they are live I may seriously consider picking up one of their albums.
Korn was up next, and Freak introduced them. The whole time while I was waiting for them to come on, I was getting so nervous. There were a lot of girls at the show, but they all had guys with them, and if they didn't they stood in the back. This guy with creepy contacts that changed his eye color kept asking me about bands that I had seen and stuff. He said that I was one of the youngest fans he'd ever seen in the Korn pit, and last night was his fifth time seeing them. I felt special.
I think that Korn opened with their cover of 'Word Up', but it's all kind of like a blur. All I know is that when they came on there was a big drop of skeleton hands and all these flashing lights, and then we heard the bass and the drums and all hell broke lose. I was immediately shoved right up to the V-barricade. I've come to enjoy the V-cade. See, if you stay right by the tip of it you have the best view of the stage, and a relatively stable place to stand. Not to mention, the security guards are right there so if something goes down, you're safe. And! If the band comes out to touch fans, you're right there waiting for them!!
Any-hoo, the place went friggen insane and it was so awesome. Out comes Jonathan Davis beautiful as ever in his black ADIDAS sweatsuit, with his hair...and oh man. Munky was right to the right of me and I was in awe at him, and Head!! I love Head!!! Fieldy was kicking it right by Head and they were rocking out together, it was awesome. David's drum set was elevated up above the ground so we had a good look at him. I probably could see him smiling even from a million miles.
They played 'Got the Life' and I went insane for that song, I just love it. When they played 'A.D.I.D.A.S.' the crowd was singing so loud we couldn't even hear a glimmer of Jonathan Davis's voice. Normally I'd be complaining about that, but it was amazing to see everyone singing in unison. They played a cover of some Metallica song too, 'One' as I've been told, but, I'm not positive, I just know that it was good.
The only problem I had all night was the fact that this pervy Asian guy behind me tried to feel me up, and kept putting his hands on my hips. I finally gave up on pushing him off of me(there was nowhere to get away from him to! I mean, it's not like I had room to move, lol), and I told this really nice blonde guy next to me that he was giving me trouble and he told him to get lost. When the guy didn't move, he shoved him away and people pushed him far back. He didn't bug me anymore after that.
I was only really pissed because I was too distracted by him to really get into their cover of Floyd's 'Another Bright In The Wall' but I still felt the emotion so it was all cool.
At some point some guy who was buzzed was shaking everyone's hands and pointing to Korn and saying 'Fucking amazing right there', then he shook my hand and said 'Holy crap there's a girl up here!! Welcome to the Korn family!' that made me smile.
When Jonathan brought the bag pipes out I swear, my heart almost stopped right there and then. I adore the song 'Shoots and Ladders', I think it's probably my all time favorite Korn song, at least second or third. I probably had the most stupified(Disturbed reference! boo-yah) expression on my face. My mouth was open and I was just staring at Jonathan David. He's so friggen talented.
They played 'Blind' and 'Alone I Break', and fuck yeah! 'Falling Away From Me' that's my song right there. Well, that I can sing pretty well anyway.
After an hour and a half set(that's long for a band like Korn, if you've ever seen how hard their bodies have to work to place, you'd understand why, and well the crowd's bodies too) they ended with 'Ya'll Want A Single.' Oh man, I was laughing so hard when they were playing it, I must of looked like such an idiot. I'm glad that they played it though because it made me really happy.
Walking out I saw a bunch of local band members that I randomly recognized, that was neat. They all came to see Korn. :-P
On my way out I got a free toothbrush, that was kind of odd but cool.
There was an ambulence out front which was kind of scary, but we all think the kid that got injured will pull threw.
After I got picked up and fans waved to my dog Elka who was in the car, I came home and showered, at a donut, and sat with my mom while we waited for my sister to come home, so we could catch her on the fact that she's been sneaking out for the past month. Bad bannana.
Korn rocked my smelly socks.
