Oh man, the concert was absolutely amazing and I stood front center!!! I was like, two feet away from Lars the ENTIRE show! Holy crap batman.

So, basically I took the L down there, had a short conversation with a girl who has long blond hair on our walk fromt he L to the Metro.

I arrived, I went to the washroom, I covered up the vampire markings on my neck.

The first band Vietnam DMS were okay, but the singer pissed me off and they were entirely too full of themselves. They were kind of meat-headed. I was hoping that Roger Miret and the Disasters would be way better.

What do you know!! They WERE way better!! They kicked some major ass right there. The only song I really remember by them was a cover of an Agnostic Front song, but it's all good. I stood in the back on one of the mini-stage things for their set, and I watched all the 'hawks dance. They dimmed the lights and play 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' before comming on and that was pretty funny.

The crowd was small, I figure, maybe 500 people there, max. It felt like only 150, but it had to of been more than that. Only, because the crowd was so small the bonding experience was great.

At some point during Roger's set, Lars bombed from the back and did two runs with the circle pit before going backstage again, that was so freaking cool!!

Anyway, after Roger Miret and the Disasters left the stage, I walked right up to the center of the floor. The barricade had already been lined with people, but I stood right behind that first line, so, I was right there for the whole show, it was a beautiful site.

The band came on, and then Lars appeared and they started playing and oh man it was sooo much fun.

At some point Lars was introducing everyone on stage with him, and that led to him talking about how he's a homosexual. :-P That was hysterical. He had Scotty come kiss him ont he cheek and he told us that whenever his girlfriend(he has a girlfriend :-() and Scotty's girlfriend get together they're convinced that Lars and Scotty are gay together. Then Lars went on about how he's going to marry Scotty even if it is illegal. Oh man, it made my night. I kept thinking about how cool Angela would of thought it was.

Lars talked to the crowd a lot, and it was a ton of fun. He was wearing loose green three quarters with pink zippers all over them and a white shirt with pink writing on it, and his hair was bleached blond and cropped, he was looking fly. They were all looking good.

At some point Lars was telling us how Chicago is the only other city from his home that he feels welcomed in. He claims that he wrote a song just for us, and I wish I could remember what it was, all I know is that the entire crowd was glowing after he told us that.

Later before they played 'Vietnam' Lars went into his reasoning for why he hates hippies. It brought me back to this past summer's Warped Tour.

He made fun of emo kids too!! That was because he was telling us he was sorry for being emo about thanking us. It was pretty funny.

He kept taking cigarettes from the crowd and smoking them, that was pretty hysterical. He looked so bad ass.

At some point he was talking to us and was asking if we wanted any water. Someone yelled out 'Red Bull!' cause Lars is addicted to it, and he pulled some kid on stage with him. He told the kid to put his hand out, and then he slapped it, it was great. Then he was like 'Didn't your mother teach you any manners?!' and so the kid was like 'May I please have a Red Bull?' and Lars gave it to him. It was so much fun.

Then he saw that we were all dying from heat stroke and he got two bottles of water and he got really low near us and whispered 'You take one sip, and you pass it on to your brother and sister next to you, you got it? We're all fucking family here.' I felt like I was witnessing some weird initation thing.

After they played 'Dance With Me' Lars told all of the sausages to get out of the pit. I loved that!! I was going to get in but I knew I'd never get my spot back and so I stuck by the boys. Anyway, he talked about how his mom could mosh and all kinds of fun stuff. Then he went on a tangine about how calling guy parts 'sausages' is kind of weird. He was like, 'What do you say, hey man nice sausage' and then made fun of himself.

He had a pink scarf with him and kept making fun of James Brown. Then he referenced Rick Flair!! That was SOOOOO cool. He was like 'Whooo!!' and we all did it, and I was in awe. I was having a 'woah' fit when he did that.

He was even making fun of the sound booth guy cause he was wearing sun glasses!! Then he said how he could never talk like he was in Rancid, and immitated Matt looking at him and shaking his head. Oh man, it was really neat.

Anyway, when the girls were in the pit they played their cover of 'Marie Marie' and it was hella awesome.

I didn't want it to end.

It sadly did though. But! I finally got to see 'Mainlining Murder', 'Switchblade', 'To Have and to Have Not' and many many many more live. I was so happy.

They ended with 'Viking' and Lars was talking to the crowd and we sang with and it was really beautiful. It felt so nice to get all of my agression out and to just, relax and not worry about anything for a while. Wooooooaaaahhhhhhhhhhh. I could sing that all day long for him.

Lars rocked out, the entire band did, jumping shaking, smoking, kneeling, you name it and it was done.

After the lights had turned back on and all of the other members of the band had left the stage, Lars went around and shook everyone's hand and said 'Thank you' and made eye contact with them. If I had any lack of respect for him before that moment, I quickly gained it all back. He had to go backstage though, so he didn't get everyone, but he looked at me and said 'Thank you' and blew me a kiss. *floats*

I wish it never ended and I was still there and floating.

Instead I had to get into a car, and come home to hell.

I loved every minute of that concert. There's just something special about Lars and punk shows, and concerts, and metal heads...

Oh yeah. Metal kids smell so much worse than punk kids. Punk kids know their cleanliness man.

Peace.
