Goldfinger Rocked This Kid's Socks
2005-03-02 @ 12:01 p.m.

Last night was a complete and total blast. There are concerts that change your life, concerts that bore you to death, concerts that are good but not great, concerts that are fantastic, and concerts that are complete and total fun.

So, I have this monster of an illness that's been keeping me pretty, uh, absent minded as of late. I can't breath, and I cough, my ears hurt, and I complain way more than usual, which means I'm in pain. Boy am I in some serious pain, still. I came home last night and cried everything hurts to bad, I have no idea how I got up this morning. But it was totally worth it!

So, Angela, Brynne, and I hopped on a train to the House of Blues, where we walked right in. HEAR THAT!? WALKED RIGHT IN! There was no million feet long line, we got to go right in. It was really nice.

Last night was a PETA2 sponsored show and that made me paranoid about everything, even though I am anyway. I was just boosted up. So, anyway. I checked my coat and the merch guy for Goldfinger(who, coincidentally looked really familiar) was like 'Wow, that's a nice coat, where'd you get it?' only, he was asking me in a really shady sort of way. I was like 'I don't know, my brother got it for me.' And then, he was like 'That's sweet.' I don't know, he made me feel uncomfortable, I got bad vibes. Only, later that night he was super kind. Maybe the drummer stole his thong and wore it on stage.

So, the first band sucked majorly. When I say sucked, I mean, they really did a terrible job and were entirely too cocky. Their moves were stale and the singer couldn't carry a note if someone blew smoke up his ass. But that's okay! They were fun to laugh at. I couldn't keep a straight face during 'Sleeping City' or whatever their band name was.

'Still counting the days I've been without you, 1, 2, 3, 4!!'

Anyway, after they threw a waterbottle into the crowd and it dully landed on the floor, you knew they weren't going to make it. It was funny.

So, thankfully, that band parted ways. We went to the washroom again so I could clear my nose, well, best I could anyway. theStart were up next, and uh, well, the singer, her voice sounds like she has a permanent supply of helium. They were an alright band though, I dance a tiny bit to them, rock my foot at least. The singer was pretty from far away, and Angela and the guys definetly noticed that. Their bassist sliced a tendon open in his hand(I'm assuming there's more than one tendon in a hand) and that's why he wasn't playing. Maybe they'd of been better if he was playing. I don't know.

Oh! Before that we talked to a long-time fan of Goldfinger for a bit, and I'm completely convinced that I've seen her at other shows before. She looks familiar, maybe I've just seen a lot of people that look LIKE her. Throughout the night we were also practicing our self-defense moves, and that was fun/funny.

So, after theStart the 'pit' area seemed to condense a lot more, and we were pretty close up. We waited for, well, let's just say basically an hour. But they played Social Distortion and I used every inch of what was left of my tissue so I was content. Sleep and exhausted, but, content none the less.

Then, the REAL show started. Holy fudge man, Goldfinger kick so much amazing ass. There were some, well, maybe not punks, but there were definetly some kids who understood the scene there, heck, I think the whole place understood, I love shows like that! It was fantastic. There was a circle pit raging, stage diving(from the band! woot!), and jumping.

So, apparently, and according to Angela I missed a whole lost last night. I was there, but, I guess I wasn't as attentive as I usually am. :-P Mest were there! MEST MEST MEST MEST MEST MEST MEST MEST MEST, MY BABIES! I adore, adore, adore and love Mest. They just, yeah, they made my month. I'd say year but I'm probably going to see them live this summer, and that will make my year. Again. :-) Anyway, for some reason I thought that Tony was some guy in a white coat, but he had a black dickies jacket and he was up in the balcony with Nick(the drummer). I know that Matt just had a baby with his girlfriend, so he might of missed out on the show last night, and I didn't see Jeremiah, but heck, maybe they all were there. That's so awesome. :-) But yeah, I told Angela they'd probably be there and I was so right.

They played all the songs I wanted them too, and when they played 'Counting the Days' I gave it my all(As well as I did with 99 Red Balloons.) Brynne, the lucky duckling, ended up right up against the railing, Angela and I right behind her, maybe over towards the middle a little bit more. That was awesome. *Applauds Brynne for her first railing experience.* Angela and I kept looking over at each other and screaming the words and that was fun. I jumped! I actually jumped! Me! Normally I'm really lazy and just let everyone else just jump for me and lift me up, or I bounce on my feet. But no, I actually jumped this time, I'm proud of myself. :-)

At some point there was a song that older fans should have known and they were all asked to just, climb on stage, it was awesome! Half the crowd was on stage and half were in the pit, and we were all bouncing and singing and having such a wonderful time. That was so neat. Next time I go to a Goldfinger show, I will make sure that I know all the words so I can be one of those people on stage.

When they played 'Wasted' the confetti came flying down and that was awesome. I like that, it just, brings the adrenaline way up.

The singer John Feldmen/Feldman, I forget kept standing on the barrier way up above the crowd and swinging the mic into the crowd and it was just kickass.

The guitarist(I think, maybe he played bass) was so adorable. He had black hair and he was right by us. He was also named 'Clap Master' by John, that was funny as heck. Even though John, apparently(this was another bit I got from Angela) admitted that statement was lame. Anyway, I kept looking at him because he was funny and nice and cute.

And, now, one of my most favorite parts of the show. *devil horns* John had their drummer come out from behind the drums, I think they switched, and he pulled his pants down, and was wearing a thong. Holy crap it was hysterical, we were all openly laughing. He tried to get people to slap his ass, (I SO would have!), including a security guard I think. His ass, from what I could tell, was tan and smooth, and ooh la la. Apparently I'm the only one who thought he had a nice one. So, anyway, he comes over towards us(and, probably basically shoved his boot-ay in Brynne's face, more so than ours), and we got to be close to his perfect tan ass. Anyway, then he climbed on an amp and stuck their new album in his crack and had people jump up and down to get it. It was so friggen funny! I will laugh at that forever. Oh man, talk about some guts. That was certainly memorable. It was fantastic. I will bring it up as much as I possibly can from now on. (Drummer=Dangerous Darrin, haha, he just so gained a new girly fan.)

So, anyway, the guy who was playing some instrument near us that I thought was adorable threw some ice chunks into the audience but he hit the security guard instead. So the security guard was looking around ready to kick some ass, but out guy, like the gentlemint he is, came over and shook his hand and apologized. That was really neat and smart. All was well.

My brain is starting to shut down and I'm needing to bring this long eventful entry near an end.

We sang 'Fuck Ted Nugent' and that was brilliant fun. I like songs I can easily follow along. 'He's an asshole, asshole, ............' It was great. John was jumping so high, I was jumping high, Angela was jumping high, Brynne was probably jumping high. It was awesome.

Then, thankfully, they closed on '99 Red Balloons', talk about the best closing ever! It was fantastical. Beautiful. I gave whatever I had left in me for the end. Woot!

Then somehow, I went from being next to Angela to being next to Brynne and we brought Goldfinger t-shirts(mind, you, the first time we've gotten t-shirts at a concert that haven't been the same, Angela even got a different one, yay!), and then found Angela by the bathroom where we forgot to meet her. (I wonder if she was getting condoms from that funky machine? ;-)) The guy who sold my my shirt was the same guy who weirdly commented about my coat, and he was surprisingly nice, which made me feel a lot better. He was kind of cute. :-P

Anyway, I had Brynne get my coat for me because I'm a giant wuss who never changes. :-P We met up with Angela, waited in the entrance to keep warm. Angela got a pick from some guy, who caught it during the show from what I'm now assuming was the guitarist, the little adorable Irish guy. Lucky Angela. :-) Woot!

Anyway, then we got into my dad's care, rode home, said out goodbyes. Then I came home, cried until my sister let me have my shower, where I fell asleep for a few minutes, put my hair up, shoved cotten balls in my ears, took three Ibprofun, and promptly got into bed. The pain was definetly worth it, it just sucked at the time.

There is nothing like being at a concert. Nothing like looking at the stage and seeing people you admire and adore, looking at the lights that shine on them, seeing the people next to you enjoy themselves, smiling, singing along at the top of your longs, being anything but tired, experiencing something new. I wish I could explain it all in full detail, but honestly....

You had to of been there to have known how totally beautiful it was. :-)

Goldfinger rocked this kid's socks.
